Welcome to The Environmental Physiology and Toxicology Lab at University of Miami Rosenstiel School

The Environmental Physiology and Toxicology lab is interested in how aquatic animals cope with environmental stressors and environmental change, either natural or man-made.

We study freshwater and marine organisms, primarily invertebrates and fish, and we allow the question or problem of study determine which experimental animal we choose to work on. A wide range of research is active in the Grosell lab, but the majority of our work involves marine fish and currently centers around four main themes:

  1. Salt and pH balance in marine fish
  2. Impacts of ocean acidification on marine fish
  3. Impacts of the 2010 Gulf of Mexico Deepwater Horizon oil spil
  4. Impacts of tracel metal homeostasis and toxicity on freshwater and marine organisms
